Push for P.E.A.C.E. (Prayer Engaging a Community Evolution)

The Push for P.E.A.C.E. is a city wide prayer ministry that was birthed out of a call to prayer by our Mayor, Jim Ardis. Mayor Ardis has a true heart for the holistic growth, development and protection of the city of Peoria. And because he is unashamedly a believer in Christ Jesus, he thought what would be a better way to open up doors of opportunity and combat the spiritual warfare that often manifests through crime and violence than through prayer. A steering committee was organized and given the charge of planning a united prayer effort. The initial period of prayer lasted for 40 days (December 31, 2007 – February 8, 2008), in which pastors, leaders, and churches of different faiths, races, and classes came together with one agenda – to call on the name of the Lord through prayer.
During this time and after, we have seen the power and favor of God rest on our city especially in the areas of protection, prevention and restoration. Just a few of the benefits we have experienced as a result of prayer are as follows:

Strongholds, barriers and divisions among the body of Christ are being eradicated

Substantial decrease in all areas of crime

Increased faith and prayer in the lives of individual Christians
After the 40 days of prayer concluded the steering committee felt we had to do something to keep this momentum and unity through prayer going, and thus was birthed the Push for P.E.A.C.E. This is a ministry that invites faithful, Holy Ghost filled, believers in Christ to become prayer warriors on behalf of our city. We meet every week at a different location and pray for the needs of the churches, businesses and families of that community. It is also an opportunity to meet new brothers and sisters and Christ and encourage each other in the faith. Someone has said that the word “push” is an acronym for pray until something happens, and that’s just what we plan to do!
